Jog or walk through the back roads of NOLA’s historic neighborhoods and it will not be long before you see a home demolition in progress or a house being remodeled. In either case, there will be a dumpster nearby, inviting you to take a peek over the side wall.  I have been told my eyes light up as my curiosity gets the best of me as I step up to take that 1st peek.   We all know that feeling of curiosity; it is the same feeling you get when opening gifts on Christmas morning.

Well, to tell you truth, I have never been disappointed.   What most people see as junk and items to be discarded, I see as history and an opportunity to repurpose these land-fill bound materials into a new treasure. What treasure you ask? I don’t know, the ideas will come to me later, but what I do know is that each piece I make will be made for somebody I care about and it will have a story to go along with it.

What I have learned from all of this is that if you ask, most contractors or home owners are willing to help you and will even put “their junk” out for your next weekend pick.
