Your Creation: “Cypress Beam Charcuterie Board”
This piece was power-carved from an old 10x10 inch cypress beam pulled from a house under renovation in New Orleans at the corner of Desota St and historic Esplanade Ave. They were replacing the support beams under the house, and I was fortunate enough to get a few of the old pieces.
Cypress trees are native to the US east coast from Maryland to Florida. They can grow 80 feet high and 30 feet wide and live hundreds of years.
The tree is prized for its wood because it contains natural preservatives and is extremely rot and termite resistant. It was once a historical construction mainstay for Louisiana natives & settlers and was ideal for building the Acadian style homes which still stand today as proof of its durability.
This piece has been dried, carved, polyurethaned and oiled to accent the beauty of the natural colors. It was crafted in 2023, with you in mind from start to finish.
