Foyer Table
Your Creation: “Foyer Table”
This furniture was custom made using reclaimed wood from several sources. The shelves on this table were salvaged from an old pecky cypress door / shutter found in Baton Rouge, La. The “peck” (worm like hole) is a natural distortion in the wood caused by fungus growing on the trees in the humid Louisiana swamps. The legs and base of the table are made from reclaimed wood pulled out of a dumpster on N. White St. near historic Esplanade Ave. in New Orleans where they were demoing an old house. Some of this is non-uniform framing lumber typically found in attics of old homes and some is original door/window trim. If you look closely, you will notice nail holes and mounting hardware features, such as where door/shutter hinges were once fastened. You will also notice some of the original paint on the trim boards that I purposely left to retain some of its history.
All of these materials used here were hand selected and crafted into this piece in 2020.
