Hall Tree
Your Creation: “Hall Tree”
This furniture was custom made using reclaimed wood from several sources near historic Esplanade Ave. in New Orleans. The top, sides and shelves on the base are floor boards salvaged from a plantation style home on Bayou St. John. That home was built in 1837 by the Blanc family that owned the first brick company in NOLA. In early 1900, the home was donated to the Archdiocese of New Orleans Holy Rosary parish and has served as the church rectory ever since then. The back, an old basement sized cypress door, was purchased from a home owner in the same area. The very bottom and frame of the hall tree was made from non-uniform framing lumber typically found in attics of old homes. If you look closely, you will notice nail holes, old brass keyhole lock, distressed features and some of the original paint on the boards that I purposely left to retain its history.
