This wooden bowl was power-carved from a piece of pecan wood cut from a tree that fell in Nola’s city park during the 2020 hurricane season.

The pecan tree is a member of the hickory family and is native to the Southern United States and Mexico. It is most commonly known for its edible pecan nuts; however, the wood is also known for its hardness, stiffness, coloring and durability making it suitable for flooring and furniture making. The flavor of pecan wood is sweet & nutty and is commonly used for smoking meats.

This piece has been dried, carved and polyurethaned to accent the beauty of the natural colors. This piece was crafted in 2021.
