Your Creation: “Red Oak Dough Bowl”
This wooden bowl was power-carved from a piece of wood cut from the branch of a Red Oak tree that fell during hurricane Ida in 2021. This tree, which I planted, was only about 35 years old; but can easily live 100 years or more.
The Red Oak tree is also known as the "Spanish Oak" because it is native to the areas of early Spanish colonies and very abundant in the southeastern United States. The coarse-grained hardwood is extremely durable and is used in manufacturing of floors, furniture and counter tops.
This piece has been dried, carved and polyurethaned to accent the beauty of the natural colors. This piece was crafted in 2021.
