Cedar Charcuterie Board
Your Creation: “Cedar Charcuterie Board”
This charcuterie board was cut from the trunk of a Red Cedar tree that fell in 2021 during hurricane Ida. This large tree was located at the corner of Bell and N. White Street just off historic Esplanade Avenue.
Cedar trees are very hardy and can easily live over a 100 years. There are several varieties and can be found all over N. America. Its thick foliage provides great protection and nesting sites for small birds. The wood is naturally resistant to insects and fungus, but is more commonly known for its beautiful grain, reddish colors and present aroma. It is traditionally used in fences, but is also the wood of choice used for Hope Chests, cigar boxes and pencils.
This piece, has been dried, carved and polyurathaned to accent the beauty of the natural colors. The piece was crafted in 2022
